player portrait: zvika ben baruch

zvika is one of our original players (one of two that are still on the team's roster). he's the club's all time top scorer, with 42 goals in 47 official games. zvika scored the first goal ever in a kolbo-shalom game, on the 19th minute of our first game. "After 19 minutes kolbo-shaloms Zvika Ben Baruch made his way through the middle, putting the visitors up 0 - 1." the game was against Nurit Shani and Gal (then known as Nurit and Gal), and was played just a day after both me and NSG's manager got our teams (on 10/5/2003). well, we've been friends ever since.
zvika's last goal for the club (in an official match, at least) was scored more than a season ago, in the season we won the championship of iv.59. "kolbo-shalom's Zvika Ben Baruch scored 0 - 1 by shooting accurately and hard from a long distance, leaving the opponent goalie no other option than to pick up the ball from the net." The match ended 3-2 for hapoel kolbo-shalom.
today, zvika plays mostly friendlies. his role in the team is more like that of a mentor for the team's young forwards. his qualities as an experienced player and a natural leader come into play now. however (and despite our strong liking to this fellow), we now think it would be for the better if zvika found a new home for his skills. perhaps he even may someday become a coach in another team.

season 24

ok, we failed at our cup-goal (which was 5th round), bu we're still in the picture for our main goal: surviving in series iii.9. i did hope to avoid a qualifier all together, but i did make some BAD mistakes this season.
truth is, i had quite a bit of problems IRL, which made me spend much less time and attention on hattrick than what i'd normally spend. the team's results were apropriate.
hopefully, we'll pass the qualifier and remember this as an extra week of training. :)
we'll be playing a team (bananas) that just finished a tough season in a very close series. guess it's time to go check them out...

we are back!

ok, you might have noticed how the last update on this blog was made like half a year ago. believe it or not, i didn't really have the time to write a few words here all these months. i also couldn't devote much time to hattrick, and it shows on the team's results.
anyway, i now plan to be updating this blog more often :) as well as to take my managerial duties more seriously.
in the next couple of posts i'll give my season's summary, an inside view of my team (brought through the story of one of the team's players), plans for next season, and many more fun things i'll think of in the near future.
